A cleaner that has worked well for me is naphtha, or commonly known as
Coleman camping fuel.

It evaporates without residue that I have seen, and has not affected
anything in the many years that I have used it, with the only exception that
uncured (by heat) BBQ paint comes off a bit with this stuff, otherwise I
have used on everything without harm.

One interesting observation though, I once tried to clean a ball point ink
mark on the screen of my laptop LCD, it wouldn't come off with naptha. A
few days later I recalled the 99.9% pure isopropyl alcohol we had at work,
it took the ball point pen ink off in a couple of wipes and did not damage
the plastic screen in front of the LCD.

This was the only time I find naphtha, as a very effective but safe solvent
(unlike acetone) to be out performed.

Regards,

Ken
