I should say that because of the "Lick Factor" (TM), having a UV filter on your lens (whichever one you get) is most probably a Very Good Idea (R). If you're shooting a basset hound, or other droolers I would recommend the EOS-1v with its gazillion environmental seals as well as the new L series lenses with gaskets.
