This is my experience, too.  I'm trying to sort out the variables, and
increase the proportion of good ones.  I figure that way when I do get
the long lens of my dreams, my technique will already have a leg up.

It's not hard to understand why Canon chose this lens to launch the IS
system with.    (Mine is non-IS)
