I occasionally have my EOS1nHS and 300/2.8 dangling from the supplied
strap on the camera, but I usually switch to the thicker, wider strap
that came with the lens to carry that combination. Having two straps
is a pain - they often get tangled or in the way plus they also take
up more room in the case (LowePro mini trekker). With a
lighter/weedier camera, I would think that you may well damage the
camera in the long term.
