I've had good luck with Fuji Super G+ ISO 800, or whatever they call it now. With
decently bright stage lights, an exposure of f2.8 @ 1/125 S, seemed to give good
results. The print film will tolerate over-exposure easily. I actually used center
weighted metering
to arrive at this exposure. Spot metering gave much too wildly varying results.
Controlling the composition to eliminate areas of wide contrast seems to be the best
approach. If you have a singer in a spotlight, almost everything else will go black
by comparison.

I had best results with my 200/2.8L, so I think you would find the 70-200/2.8L most
useful. The odd wide angle shot is OK, but details tend to be too small for my taste.
Focus is tricky. In one shot I focussed on guitar strings, since they're easy in dim
light.
The strings were in focus, but the players face wasn't!

Although I haven't tried it, I think the 28-135 IS would be just too slow. Although
you might not get camera shake at 1/30 S (f5.6), the subjects aren't exactly holding a
pose. The large aperture (of the 70-200/2.8) also gives great background blur, to
make a
performer stand out.
