Interesting, George. Thanks for the info. I've not heard people talk
about this lens - I'll go look it up at the Canon museum. When did it
cease production, and do they turn up in the used market very often?
 I don't think I've noticed one. >>

Hi ,
I have this lens - Canon 80-200L 2.8 and use it with both 2x Kenko Pro and
1.4x Kenko Pro and get great results. And this lens is black - what you'd
prefer, I understand. You can find them used - from user to great condition
you can pay - $500 to $800 respectively. I got my used and it works very
good. It's better if you can check it out first (not buy on Internet, but
rather at a camera show/swap place or store) since it was and in many cases
still is a a well used Pro lens, so condition can be different based on how
it was used. Plus it's a bit smaller than 70-200L2.8, so less weight and will
fit in a smaller bag. It uses 72mm filters, which also matches older Canon
20-35L 2.8 lens.
I have some reviews of all this staff at my web site in Photography section.
Let me know if you have any questions.
George
