Hmmmm.

Well, you could say that but its a process that takes place after you have
taken the photograph- the algorithms try and decipher the image information
for so that detail can be brought out in the darker regions. This was
orignially Soviet spy technology, but now Canon has got the worldwide patent
on it (actually Minolta had it, but Canon now has it as a precursor to its
takeover of Minolta).

It requires heavy processing power which is why the camera has an onboard
Transmeta Crusoe processor (the D30 already has RAM, a screen and a hard
drive, so adding a good CPU to the whole jumble of wiring to make it a full
fledged PC was not far off).

There is no D1v to my knowledge, or a D3. I would like to be told I'm wrong.
