You'll see a big difference :)

I don't understand !
The 300 2,8 offer 1 stop difference than with your zoom at 300 5,6. But the
image quality is far better that you have obtained with your zoom !

The 1V offer better AF, and a higher fps rate. Also the 1V offer a more
sealed (metal) body.
In most cases the -3 can do the job.

If you want to upgrade from the Elan II, buying the Elan 7 is perhaps not
the better idea. Because the Elan 7 is very close to the Elan II. The 7 is
better (exposure & fps) than the Elan II, but the EOS 3 is a bigger step.
