It's more precise. And shooting slide film needs to be the more accurate
possible.

No the 1V comes with the booster in the HS version. You can buy the 1V
without it if you want, and add it when you want just in buying it. It's a
very simple operation.
The PowerBooster (PB-E2) used in the 1V is the same that for the 3. The
booster offer :
- All commands for vertical grip of the camera,
- Booster (10 fps for the 1V, and 7 for the -3, with the NP-E2 specific
battery)
And when you fit a heavy lens, with the booster the wheight is well balanced
with the booster.

My EOS 3 is really a great peace of equipment.
