Severi,
yes, the BP-300 is probably the best accessory you can buy for your 30. I
bought the BP-200 for my Rebel 2000, which I feel is the same general size
as the 30 (or 7 for those in north america). it compliments the camera so
perfrectly, I wonder why canon doesn't include it standard.
major benefits:
1) I always found the regular grip on the rebel and elan 7 to be a little
small for my tastes. I have the same problem as you - my little finger
never really had any place to grip. adding the battery pack makes the
camera feel extremely stable and better balanced - especially with a big
lens. the home for your little finger is worth the price alone, IMHO.
2) I didn't think much of it at the time, but it DOES make a difference in
shooting vertically. you lose easy access to your controls (does the
BP-300 have a wheel on it?) but it feels a lot more natural than having to
convolute your hand around the top of your camera.
3) two words: AA batteries. try finding the Li-on batteries in some small
down and you'll instantly appreciate being able to use a widely-available
power source. although, I've counted over 60 rolls of film with my battery
back and regular AA's, and they haven't needed replacing yet.
so yeah, I'd highly suggest getting one :)
