Yes, that's a drawback I hadn't remembered.  The bolt that attaches the BP-300
to the camera has a large head on it that makes it easy to tighten, but that
leaves the tapped hole for the tripod offset about 1" to the right (looking at
the camera back).

That would be a reason for taking it off.  Panorama shots.

Wouldn't that (offset) be a common problem with all attachments on all camera
bodies?
