I should have clarified this point. The pyramidal tapering
suggests that the diffuser is extremely malformed. It is not. All
I was trying to say here is that the front of the diffuser is
smaller than the opening, and thus the shape is trapezoidal.

I know what you mean. I used to have the same combination. It's
what raised my concerns in the first place. The fits of the two
combos are dramatically different. But I was able to get the
OM-EX mounted all the way in. (see below)

Apparently the OM-EX is just made a little tight. I contacted
Stofen and was told that I needed to stretch the sides apart if
the fit is too tight. My instructions were copied off an earlier
draft and did not include this bit of information.
But frankly, heating up the diffuser over a hot stove and
mounting it on the flash was a better solution.
