Actually TCN prints very flat in my experience - you need to up the contrast
to like a 3 filter. Maybe your lab already does this? It scans very  flat as
well. Ask them to print on B&W paper, if possible to avoid color casts. 

It is an excellent film though.

I also found that the Select Black and White version of the Kodak is
sometimes very hard to print at all at 1 hr labs. I usuallyd rop these at
the 1hr minilabs, get 4x6s as proofs and then print the ones i really like
myself. The trouble is that the Select variety does not go thru the machine
at all!!

I am curious about the POrtra B&W film myself.  Please let me know how your
prints come thru.
