It seems to be rather inconsistent. Some shots it's perfect, and then the
next shot it's massively overexposed. That's using a 550EX with an EOS-3
in manual mode with E-TTL flash, which should be about as good as Canon's
system gets. Having said that, I shot 4 rolls with a pair of 550EXes a
while back and nearly every shot was okay (some a bit dark, some a bit
light, but good enough for what I needed), so it's not really even very
consistent in its inconsistency :-).

Hi All !!!
I have been using the same equipment as mentioned above for about 18 month's
now, And i can report that i get great results from it,
The one thing that is important is that you must either have the active
fucusing point over the subject or use the "FEL" button !
Before i swapped over to Canon i was using a Nikon F5 and an F100 + SB-28's
(Nikon's current "Top of the line" flash units)
And can tell you that after having used both types of flash (Nikon's 3D-MBFF
and Canon's ETTL) I have found that in no way is the Nikon system any better
than the Canon system ! (But of course the EX 550 has more features than the
SB-28, Plus the high speed sync flash feature on the Canon unit is as usable
as normal speed sync,But on the Nikon SB-28 unit the high speed sync feature
is all but un-usable as it is manual and not TTL !)
