I'm using a Manfrotto 234RC on top of my monopod. It has the quick release
function and uses the same plates as the 308 ball head. I have yet to use the
swivel function of the 234RC, but the extra height it adds to the 'pod makes the
combination ideal on uneven ground for someone my height (slightly under 6 ft.).
One trick I've found. is that rotating the QR 90 degrees from normal allows me
to use the tripod collar on my 70-200/2.8L without it interferring with the VG10
of the EOS 5.
