Hi Gerard,
You mount the camera 90 degrees from the usual way on
the Manfrotto 330. Then you mount the 330 on your tripod.
Then you can slide your EOS camera towards and away from
your subject by hand, then lock in place for the shot.
Touch up focus by using the focus ring on your lens,
if necessary. Crude, but effective.
And if this is too frustrating, detach the camera,
slap on a 500D, switch on the Image Stabilizer and
Servo AF, and shoot handheld :-)
