I have recently been trying my hand at some macro work and enjoying it quite
a bit. It has been all using natural light and I would like to try adding
flash. I have a 420EX to use with an Elan 7 and a 100 f2.8 macro. I would
like to either use the flash handheld or mounted on a macro bracket.
However, in looking at the 420 EX manual it says that the minimum distance
for use is 0.7 meters, which is obviously a lot further away than the few
inches I was planning on. Is this a problem or does one just stop the lens
down to f 16 or 22 and let the TTL metering do the rest? I would imagine
using a diffuser on the flash would help as well.
