I was at a huge wedding in Seattle last weekend. The paid
photographer, who took photos of all the guests posing with the bride
and groom, had spraypainted his 35mm camera and lens with silver
spraypaint that was scraping off everywhere. Amazing. (and no, I'm
sure it wasn't an originally silver camera) He'd also duct-taped the
flash unit to the bracket.
I guess it makes the thing look less appealing to thieves. If you're
worried about the white lenses you could always try that approach. :)
