At the long end you'll need an EOS 3 to maintain AF (atleast according to Canon)
because then it becomes a 560/8.

I can confirm that. The 200/2.8L is excellent. When coupled with a 1.4x TC you get a
good 280/4 and with a 2x TC toy get an OK 400/5.6 (and you maintain AF).
