You have heard that it's not? Well... I've never heard that. Must have
been some really tough conditions. I've never had problems with EOS 3 in
conditions ranging from -25C (usually quite dry due the extreme coldness -
but still often windy) to about -5 to -10 degrees with very unpleasant
snow/rain that froze almost instantly to what ever it touched (like the
front of my lens!) to warmer weather with liht rain. Not much experience
with heavier rain as i would not like to be in it too long myself (nor
would I like to take chances with my camera and specially lenses (which
aren't sealed as well at all, not even many of the L-lenses I've used.)
And i'm really not sure if that all tells you much at all... even though
same of the situations have been really bad IMO, I've actually used my
EOS-50e in similar situations too - and it too hasn't failed. I've not
dropped my EOS-3 yet. (Done that to EOS-50e from the waist height while it
was "almost" inside bag with no effects.)

So, unfortunately I'm not able to provide you any details about any
failing of EOS 3 as you seem to seek. I've not used EOS 1n (only EOS-1),
but I have hard time believing anything else than what Canon sain. I.e.
that EOS 3 is everybit as though and sealed as EOS 1n. But if you are
really worried, why not go for the EOS 1V. That is at least better sealed
against moisture (at least with the new L super teles),

Best regard,
        Hugo.
