as a matter of fact the latest generation of nikon AF-S big glass (300mm
f2.8 and
up ) focuses way faster than our canon USM counterparts! i tried and i know!
what
anon really has over nikon is their cheap consumer lenses with USM and IS,
and the
professional T&S lenses. canon's professional line for PJ, 17-35f2.8,
28-70f2.8,
70-200f2.8 are all inferior to nikon's counterparts as for optical
resolution,
flare control, and very important - build quality! what canon really has an
edge
over nikon is the super long teles like 400 and above, but how many on this
list
are using one? so it really doesn't make sense for canon to show off their
white
big guns on a tv commercial, which is 99.99% for consumer users...

also i'm really quite disappointed by the 1v, so many years after nikon
launched
their f5 and the only improvement seems to be the fps, but nikon's old F3HS
can do
13 frames per second! you think eye control is 'cool' and 'fast'? so why
canon
doesn't put it in their real professional cameras, which are benchmarked
with
speed?

i chose canon because their unique T&S lenses, as i do architecture and
furniture
a lot. yet nikon just launched one T&S which can also do 1:2 macro...

a friend of mine just bought a rebel 2000 simply because the salesperson
told him
nikon is more expensive and you don't need those features as a pure starter
amatuer... i'm glad he's using the same brand with me so we have something
to
share but also feel sad that how many people came to eos camp because of
'informative' advices like that...

again i won't worship any particular brand, i just look for what works for
me best...

happy shooting,

yj
