Hi Michael,
Just back from vacation so I am late in responding. I did not note anyone
answerong this one.
I have this lens and was using it yesterday at a rodeo and can say the AF is
good for action sports.
I have used it at various professional (and amateur) sporting events and
have been more than pleased.
While it is not as fast as the EF 135mm F2 L, nothing else is either. Go for
it.
One comment, since it is a 4.5-5.6L you will not be able to blow out the
background as you could with a F2.8 lens.
Other than that it is superb.
