I agree with Peter with the following comment.  I personally find the
Bokeh with the 100-400 to be average at best.  I think this lens is a
great all around lens but if you're looking to blow the background out,
forget it.  I like it and use it a lot, but when I need good background
blur, I do not use this lens.  Good background blur at f/5.6 would be
next to impossible with any lens in this focal range.  I had a 400 f/2.8
with dynamite Bokeh.  My 500 f/4 IS also has great Bokeh, but not as
good as my 400 f/2.8 had.  It seems to me that the fatter the lens
opening, the better the background blur, as a general rule.  I would
highly recommend this lens.  The last time I was at Ding Darling in
Florida, almost every photographer, including the Nikon shooters, had a
100-400 on their shoulder.
