Hi Gerry,

No, my venerable 1000FN has a patterend red beam for AF assist.
It also has an incandescent lamp for red-eye reduction, and a
flash tube for the flash itself.

How about WJM's idea of using a filtered MagLite?
Or even worse/better: a LASER POINTER mounted on the hotshoe.
