Exactly. NO Canon lens, no matter how cheap, and especially when new,
should show softness on one side only, or a real lack of sharpness 30
percent from the edge. Some cheap lenses may not be as sharp as their
thousand dollar cousins the L lenses, but they can all give you great
photos. Seems like some people get a bad example or a damaged cheap lens and
immediately all lenses less than an L are crap!
