Heard on rec.photo.digital:
"I was at a local photo shop workshop where a Canon Rep was showing off
their
hardware. Some one asked about the Canon folowup to the D30. The rep seemed
to talk openly about it. He said that Canon would continue the D30 but also
issue a new series in time for Christmas. He said the new camera would be
very similar to the D30 except have a 6.3 megapixel aray. I asked if it was
a CMOS or a CCD and he said he had not yet attended the training class
given to reps so he wasnt sure and didnt want to say anything incorrect. He
said quite a lot freely and I was surprised! It seems that Canon will take a
approach similar to Nikon with the relation of the D1x to the D1 (He did say
he expected a price reduction on the Basic D30 though!)"
