Hi Julian,

The The IX and IX Lite have a range of EV 2 to 18.5.
But the D30 is the one that has a range of EV 2 to 18.
But the prize must go to the EF-M (which while not
STRICTLY an EOS camera does accept EOS lenses) which
has no AF EV range at all because it's manual focus
only.

As a matter of interest, heres a couple of comparison
specs:

Elan IIe - AF range EV 0-18
Elan IIe Metering EV 1-20

Elan 7e - AF range EV 1-18
Elan 7e Metering EV 1-20

So according to the specs, the Elan IIe is able to AF
in one stop less light than it can meter in!

Additionally some subjective comments - I own both a
55 (Elan IIe) a 30 (Elan 7e) and an RT. The specs on
the RT are AF ranges EV 1-18, metering EV 0.5-20. On
paper a match for the 30.

I (well the camera) can't focus anywhere near as
easily in low light with the RT as I can with either
the 55 or the 30. For that reason the RT is fitted
with a split screen on place of the standard one. I
don't know how much difference the pellicle mirror
makes, but I used to own a 630 and it was very similar
in its AF capabilities.

In real use I find very little difference between the
55 and 30 (I have the af assist turned off). Of
course I can get much better focused pictures of blank
walls with the 55's red patterned af assist light than
I can with the 30 (with or without af assist). And of
course there's nothing like a blank wall in SHARP
focus as compared to a fuzzy out of focus one. <g>

Regards
Gary
