  Almost. The Canon EF-M was a Rebel-derived body that could accept 
EF-mount lenses but which lacked autofocus and TTL flash circuitry. 
It also lacked a top-deck LCD, so settings such as ISO and exposure 
compensation were done via the viewfinder display. It had two dials 
for setting shutter speed and aperture respectively, with automatic 
options on both. So you could use it fully manually or in 
shutter-priority, aperture-priority or program modes.

  The Canon EF, on the other hand, was introduced in the early 1970s 
and accepted FD-mount lenses. It was also manual focus, of course. A 
bit confusing that there was an older FD Canon called the "EF" when 
Canon later went on to name their new lens mount system "EF," but 
there you go.
