Hi Trenton,

Maybe, I really don't know. The EOS 3 I shot with had no booster, it was
bare. I don't know if a booster makes any difference in release time or not
as the Canon lit. I have shows the EOS 1n at 55ms but does not specify that
it is with a booster. In any event I sensed the EOS 3 as slower to lock on
and shoot when compared with the EOS 5QD bodies I had been using for a year.
This sense of delay was on a very early EOS 3 body that ultimately was sent
back to Canon for repair (firmware?), and the EOS 5QD bodies were a later
version. Also ECF was turned off on both bodies and only the central cross
type AF point was used. For my field shooting tests I picked my favorite EF
lenses, EF 85 1.8USM, EF 70-200 2.8L and EF 300 2.8L lenses. I also used
the EF 70-200 2.8L and EF 300 2.8L lenses with both EF 1.4X and EF 2x
converters to see if there was any noticeable loss of AF speed with the
converters. As expected the EF 2x did slow AF operation slightly.

Maybe there is somebody on the list reading this that uses both bodies and
can relate their experience and opinions about the shutter release lag time
of these bodies and if they have not tried, turn off ECF on the EOS 3 to see
if it make the AF go faster.

Regards,

Chip Louie
