Hi, I have two 1gig microdrives - one since March, the other one since May. The first one gets more use, as the second one is only required for field work when no laptop is in reach.
I had never any real failures with either one, although very rarely (way less than 1 in 1000) the downloaded file displayed a "byte" error (looked like a satellite "dropout" in the image). This could be more of a USB or Win ME issue than a problem with the microdrive itself. Compared to microdrives, flash cards are approx. 5x as fast, and consume approx. only 1/5 the power (according to the manufacturer specs). Back then when I bought my microdrives, CF cards where approx. 5x times as expensive as microdrives. At 2x the price, I'd seriously consider solid state memory, but now I have microdrives already.
