My Elan IIE suffered from an intermittment electrical problem that caused the
camera to lock up or die. Note, the battery contacts weren't the problem. The
fix, not covered under warranty, was to replace some major circuit component.
I waited for the problem to become worse, which unfortunately it did, before
sending in the camera for repair. By this time, it was easy to replicate the
problem. The lens in use didn't impact the occurrence of the problem.
