To echo others, I don't treat the 28-135 any different from my other lenses. It
is my wife's main lens and between the two of us is used quite often.

I am biased towards the 50/1.8 since I consider it the best price / picture
quality ratio of the lenses I own. It is an excellent performer and produces
significantly sharper pics than the zoom. Considering the low price you would
get for it just keep it.
