Hi Norman,

Cheaper yes, but not nearly as reliable or as stable as the RRS plates.  For
the lighter bodies and lenses with kinder working conditions this may work
fine though.

As to the price RRS plates, even new they are generally $45-$55 depending on
model and application, they are bullet-proof and won't wear out any time
soon even under daily use.  So the cost is not really an issue as the RRS
plates are reliable, used they can fetch almost the price of a new one.
