Hi John, Your EOS 5/A2 flash will go wide enough no problem but is only good for fairly close in as it lacks power. I think the real problem you will have is the shadow cast from the lens and hood in some images if too wide or too close, without the hood you should be OK most of the time. With the EOS 5/A2 using the pop-up flash even with an EF 28-105 3.5-4.5USM this could happen if close enough. This was one of the big problems I had when I got an EF 28-70 2.8L and used it on my EOS 5QD bodies with the built-in flash, it caused me to buy a 540EZ and eventually to sell the EOS 5QD's and go to EOS 1n bodies.
