Hi Howard,

If you don't NEED the extra F/L on the long end (sounds like you may have it
already covered), the EF 28-105 3.5-4.5USM is the second best deal in the
Canon lens line (the EF 50 1.8 series I is the BEST). For general purpose
use as you mention where the images are not going to get printed larger than
8x12, IMO there are better ways to spend money on your EOS system. The EF
28-135 3.5-5.6IS isn't any better optically and it's noticeably bulkier and
heavier when mounted on a body and then there are the problems, zoom creep
and reliability problems with IS being reported now after some time in the
field.

Here are some better ways to blow the money IMO. How about an EF 20-35
3.5-4.5USM or a nice used EF 28-35 2.8L, for portrait/general use how about
an EF 85 1.8USM or EF 100 2USM? Or what about a nice Russian 16mm f/2.8
fisheye and a used EF 1.4X or how about a bunch of RRS mounting plates and
RRS Arca Swiss type Pro Clamps for you monopod or ballhead? IF you need
more I've got a million of them!

Regards,

Chip Louie
