I just went through the same process after getting a 100-400 IS for my
EOS-3. It definitely overwhelmed my Bogen 3D head. I got the Kirk B-1 and
am really happy with it. I got the Kirk plates instead of the Really Right
Stuff ones. I had ordered the RRS catalog and after reading it, did not
like the RRS attitude. The folks at Kirk have been really great. Plus,
the Kirk head does not jamb.
