This is why I asked, as import costs vary from country to country (although I
gather the EU imposes some uniformity on its members?). From the other responses
it seems this is not the best option. :-)
675 x 1.067 [6.7%] x 1.19 [19%] = 857 EUR, not including postage. :-( (does
the VAT apply to the import tariff and postage as well as the price of the
item??)

Indeed. I thought GATT was supposed to fix this! ;-)
Still, the Euro has been gaining value against the dollar, so perhaps if you
wait long enough the total cost will become more attractive. . . .
