I switched from Nikon to Canon a couple of years ago for the following
reasons:

Price - you got more for your money in the Canon line of lenses.

Technology - Nikon seems to be lagging behind in areas of USM and IS.

TC's - I was frustrated at the confusing array of TC's Nikon offered.

Flash - Nikon does not allow setting flash exposure compensation on the
camera body , it must be set on the flash (at least with the F5). This is a
handy feature and kinda necessary if you use remote flashes from a blind.
I also liked the flash exposure lock capability. That having been said , it
has been my experience that, although Canons Ettl flash system seems
superior to Nikons on paper, I got more consistent results with Nikons
straight ttl system.

EOS3 - offered what I needed in a less expensive body.

Anyway those were the things that swayed me.

Joe.

Subject: EOS Canon VS Nikon

I am thinking of eventually switching to Canon as I have heard it is a
better system. Can someone enlighten me about this? I currently have only a
Nikon 8008, and before I buy a Nikon F100, or higher, and some prime lenses,
I would like to know the pluses and minuses of both systems. are there any
comparison reviews on the web or in some magazines that are honest and to
the point? What about costs? Is the Canon system a bit cheaper to buy? I
shoot mostly dog portriats, street scenes, occasional weddings. I would like
to get more involved and try my hand at photojournalism. Please send emails
to:

thanks
Lainey
