I agree with you. I've got the 28-70L, and there's no reason to sell and
replace it with this new lens. I don't shoot in the rain very much, and
as far as optical quality goes, the new one simply *can't* be that much
better because the current one is already so good. I can see that it
might be a great lens for a small-sensor digital shooter (D60/30) where
there's a multiplier. But not for film or the 1Ds. They increased the
reach on the wrong end as far as I'm concerned. Pass.
