Hi Alan,

Why not just keep your lights and get a flash meter?  Once you get the
lights setup and try them out using a meter and get some test shots back
you'll find that all of the parts of the studio setting (lights, camera
subject), have a certain configuration that you will use over and over, this
includes exposure.  If you are working in a fixed location just use tape to
put marks down for your favorite setups and the exposures will always be the
same for a particular setup.  There is no magic in the 550EX auto exposure
and even less control when compared to your monolights.
