Can anyone with first hand experience comment on the differences in performance between these first and second generation L lenses? Was there really a major improvement in performance or was Canon simply trying to get the aperature to a constant f2.8? Any idea where I can obtain an MTF chart for the older 28-80mm f2.8-4.0 L model?
