OK, you are even more experienced EOSer than I thought. But I still would like to
know, what is the result you want to achieve? I'd say that shooting film and putting
through some results using drum scanner & qualified scan house would end up to
excellent results. Renting 1Ds would cost loads of money, about the same as scanning
the best shots in drum scanner. Even though you are experienced shooter, brand new
gear may cause some serious problems: within the first couple of days you possibly may
not see software bugs and special "features" that new bodies might bring before it's
too late. So, even though you might use it as designed, there is always risk, probably
small but still risk, in using latest equipment in the beginning.

Anyway, I hope you find 1Ds for your use. Please tell us, how it works and what's the
rent. I'm switching to digital during this year, probably to D60 or to the new model
introduced in the PMA 2003. 1Ds is at the moment a bit too expensive altough I find it
perfect body for me. I'v decided to keep my 1VHS as a spare film-body for the special
projects after all.
