Assuming that the slightly worse flare/contrast with DO-lenses isn't 
improved in next generations/models, I doubt the value of a 600/4 
will drop much over time....only an equal quality DO-version would 
erode it's value....
Also, as a non-professional, you could also *start* with a used 
600/4....might take some time to find one, but you would have far 
less worries about value-decrease....:))
