I don't know if any others of you out there have been
hit with this but in the last week I have suddenly
received 4-5 messages from individuals using the ebay
system for contacting other members.

They are virtually identical. They all state they saw
me bid on other similar Canon items but are so "fed
up" with scammers from Indonesia they want to sell the
item direct. They will set up a one bidder auction on
ebay in which I would be the only legitimate bidder.
I always answer "Sure, I'm interested" but ask for
their phone number for a short chat and their mailing
address (street number, not PO Box). Everyone answers
back with the same reply that they are on a "business"
trip in Europe and I should use some escrow service or
contact them using e-mail. When I tell them to
contact me after they "return" from their trip and
that they never answered my question about their phone
number and address, I have yet to receive a followup
message.

Now the spammers create junk mail, not just jam up the
auction site.

John
