I have the Tamron SP AF 1.4 and 2x teleconverters. They are fully compatible with Canon lenses including the ability to allow AFD (they have the extra contacts). They are also les than half the price of the Canon extenders and do not have the protruding elements. I have used them successfully on a variety of lenses including the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX HSM, Canon 135mm F2L, and 100-400mm IS lenses. They are very sharp, allow all my lenses to AF (up to F8 when using EOS3), and are bargain priced.
