Could be that the filter thread is getting slightly into the FOV. The EOS 3
does not have a 100% viewfinder (though close to) which can make a bit a
difference in particular if you shoot slides. Also a 20mm lens has quite a
big FOV so the polarizer will have a different effect in the middle of the
FOV and at the border of the FOV. Since the corners are quite a bit futher
away from the center then the middle of the four sides the brighness will
not be even along the four sides.
