I agree completely.  The trade-offs, for me at least,
favor digital.  But there definitely are trade-offs. 
Even so, I'm committed enough to digital I'm giving
serious thought to parting with my 1v and E2, and
relying on my old Elan IIe on those occasions when I
need real wide angle capability.  (No, I can't afford
a 1Ds.)
