I'm in Indianapolis (USA) for the United States Grand
Prix this weekend. Lots of photographers, both with
and without press credentials. I've noticed a few
things that I find interesting. Maybe you will, too.

First, of all the photogs with official credentials
I've seen, all but one were shooting with Canon
equipment. There may be a few that I haven't seen,
but that won't change the overall facts. The lone
Nikon shooter, with whom I exchanged pleasantries
during a break in the action, was from Japan. One EOS
shooter was on the ground (after a practice) with his
EOS digital connected to a laptop, which was connected
to a blue box with a pair of attenae sticking out of
it. I assume he was filing his photos via radio
signal right from the track. Or maybe downloading
images of nude women to his CF card <g>.

Among the great unwashed, without credentials (and I'm
in this category), there are a lot of Nikon shooters,
and a surprising (to me) number of people using old
manual focus, manual wind cameras. Among the modern
AF bodies I've noticed, I'd say there's a pretty equal
split between EOS and Nikon.

The most interesting thing to me is that, among Canon
shooters, I think there were far more people shooting
digital than film. I think more than half of the EOS
cameras around me everywhere I shot were 10Ds! Saw
several 1Ds (not sure if they were 1Ds or just 1D),
and some 3s and 1n's. Most of the rest were consumer
models: Rebels, an old 10s, a couple of Elans, etc.
