This may be old news to some of you, but I haven't seem it mentioned here, so here goes:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?X13942006 Dell is currently offering the 70-200 2.8 L IS (yes, I said IS) lens for $1299, and they have a current promotion offering an additional 10% off on digital cameras and accessories. So the net cost of the lens is $1169.10, about $500 off normal retail. There has been a fair amount of discussion about this on www.dpreview.com in the Canon Lens Forum, plus on the Yahoo EOS-10D group, and many folks have placed orders for the lens, which Dell reports is out of stock but should ship soon (they told me on or before 10/6 when I ordered one). For those of us with the older, non-IS lens, looking at that price and the going price for used non-IS lenses means an upgrade for a couple of hundred $$$. I didn't know how to get the 10% discount if you order on the web, so I just called them up. They don't charge your credit card until they ship, so the general concensus is if it takes a few weeks, so what? The only downside for me is that Dell and I are both in Texas, so I did have to pay sales tax :( But shipping is free, too!
