FWIW, I bought a used Sigma 28-70 lens this July. Worked with my film bodies but not my 10D. Sigma said it would rechip, clean and check the lens for free, and it would take 2-3 weeks. I shipped it in and got a reply by mail that Sigma was waiting for parts from Japan, and now it was expected to take about five weeks for the repair. It's now October (hockey season), Sigma has had my lens since July, and I'm still waiting. Worse, I emailed and faxed Sigma in September to learn the status of my lens, and Sigma ignored me. I finally called (long distance) this morning, and I was given the excuse that Sigma is still waiting for parts, and it will probably be another two weeks before I get it back. Had I known it would take this long, I would have bought a new lens from another manufacturer, because this delay certainly wasn't worth saving money on. (I bought both of my L lenses used and have been very happy with them. I also have a non-Canon TC -- a Tamron SP -- that I am quite pleased with, especially when I think it was half the price of the Canon.) I'm sure there are plenty of happy Sigma stories out there. I just don't have one.
